This vessel is inspired by a childhood memory of firing a Jomon Era-inspired bell at the school I attended in Japan. The details pull from two women who inspired me: Bonnie, my white, American grandmother who lived by the sea, and Takako, my artist, Japanese grandmother who loved flowers.
